Go up the highest peak of Bali s sacred mountain and witness a glorious sunrise over a volcanic crater in a Jeep. Set your alarm clock and in the very early hours of the morning depart from your hotel to the starting point at the base of Mount Batur. The friendly guides will be there to welcome you, provide you with the necessary equipment, and take you through a thorough safety briefing. Then turn on your flashlights and set off in the cool, early morning darkness. The first section takes you uphill through volcanic ash, sand and small rocks. Continue ascending to the top of the crater where the terrain becomes windswept with fewer rocks and vegetation. Relax at the summit with a simple breakfast while witnessing the sunrise and the stunning morning views of Mount Abang and Mount Agung. On clear days it is even possible to view Lombok s Mount Rinjani in the distance across the Lombok Strait. Walk to another crater rim before descending along the same path you climbed in the dark, this time being able to enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and Lake Batur. You can even see some of the lava flows and their path of destruction from the most recent eruptions. At the bottom take a well-earned dip in a hot spring before returning to your hotel. Around afternoon or evening, be ready to experience 2 hours of Balinese Traditional Spa Treatment including scrub and ginger tea, at outside of hotel. Spend a day experiencing a traditional dance, discovering iconic rice terraces and exploring the highlights of Kintamani. Start the day with a performance of the famous Barong and Keris Dance. This traditional Balinese dance narrates the fight between good and evil and is a classic example of the Balinese way of blending myth and history into one reality. Drive to the iconic Tegalalang Rice Terraces, where emerald rice fields cascade down the mountain sides. Along the way, we’ll pass through villages, home to skilled silversmiths, goldsmiths, wood carvers, stone sculptors and artists. Continue to Kintamani set around the rim of the Gunung Batur crater. The breathtaking views look out over Bali’s most active volcano, Mount Batur, which soars over 1,800 metres into the sky. In the centre is a beautiful turquoise lake, the largest lake of the island. At the Tirta Empul Temple we can see the natural springs and special bathing pools whose waters are rumoured to cure any kind of disease. Hindu worshippers flock here to bathe in the holy water. Our last stop is at the 11th century Elephant Cave, also known as Goa Gajah. Built as a spiritual place for meditation we may even chance upon some of Bali’s Hindus bathing in the sacred springs. We’ll enter the temple through the carved mouth of the demon!

Things To Pack
- Good quality rucksack (preferably 40-60 liters) & a small day bag pack (for hikes/treks purpose) with rain-cover is recommended, easy to carry trolley bag.
- A pair of shoes (mainly trekking/sports) with good grip & waterproof, at least 2 pair of socks & floaters/sandals/slippers.
- Heavy down jacket, light fleece, long track/cargo pants, long/short sleeves T-shirts, body thermal wears (as per season), sun cap/hat, woolen cap & gloves (as per season), hoodie, raincoats/ponchos.
